If your Flame Boss device is having an issue getting connected or staying connected to your WiFi network, this may be due to multiple networks on your router sharing the same WiFi name and password. The purpose of this is to make it easier for WiFi enabled devices to use the same WiFi credentials and connect to the strongest WiFi signal as you move from room to room within your home.
However, more than likely, the Flame Boss device is staying put out by your grill. It will connect to the closest WiFi signal available that matches the WiFi name and password that you sent to your device. Flame Boss devices use your WiFi credentials to connect to your router and gain access to the Flame Boss cloud via the Internet. Unfortunately, Internet signal strengths are always fluctuating and depend on several factors such as the structure of your home, placement of router, or the number of available WiFi connections (hotspots/access points).
For example, you may have a mesh router with 5 hotspots, 2 available upstairs and 3 available downstairs, all with the same WiFi name and password. If the network your Flame Boss device is using decreases in signal strength and causes a disconnect, the device will reconnect to another network that may be farther away but have better signal strength at the time. Since WiFi signal strengths fluctuate often, the device will disconnect and reconnect to the strongest signal available. We recommend renaming the closest 2.4 GHz allowing for a more stable connection.
If you have a router with both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bandwidth but cannot separate or rename the 2.4 GHz network, we recommend setting up a guest network or adding a WiFi extender.
